September 2009 - May 2010As a part-time instructor I worked with students from 7th-12th grade to improve their work behind the camera as well as their writing, editing, production, interviewing and storytelling skills. I led thoughtful discussions about ethics in journalism, covered the works of notable American journalists, and helped students identify and tell visual and compelling stories. In addition to teaching foundational principles of journalism, I successfully oversaw the planning and launch of WLSA, La Salle Academy's first student-run news program. Students were tasked with pitching story ideas, shooting and editing their own content, designing graphics, and anchoring their own monthly newscast, which was aired to the entire school.
